diameter. The Model 2505 Growler can be used to test for
shorts and open circuits. This handy tool will magnetize or
de-magnetize tools or other objects. This model provides
service for all-around work.

Model: 2501 & 2503
Meter Growlers

A quality instrument for locating shorts,
open circuits and grounds in armatures from 1/2" to 8" in
diameter. The unit has a built-in meter for checking reverse
coils, defective windings, etc. Shipped with iron-insert
block for testing smaller armatures down to 1/2" in
diameter.
The "Short" Test: Like the model 2530 Growler, the
"feeler" method is used for short circuit testing.
The "Open" test: Broken windings may be determined
by placing the armature on the pole pieces and touching the
test prods to adjacent commutator bars or coil ends.
The "Ground" Test: One test prod is held to the
commutator bar and the other to the shaft or metal core. A
grounded coil or commutator bar will be indicated by a glow
of the lamp. Demagnetizing: These growlers may also be used
to magnetize or de-magnetize tools or other objects.
Shipped with iron-insert block for testing smaller armatures
down to 1/2" in diameter.

Model: 2530 & 2533
Internal/External Growlers
|
The Model 2530 Growler is designed to
test for "short" circuits in armatures from 6" - 12" in
diameter, and stators from 2 1/2" to 12". It is easy to
handle and highly sensitive.
"Short" testing is done by the "feeler" method
using a hacksaw blade or thin strip of metal. The growler is
placed on the stator iron or on the armature and slowly
rotated by hand with the "feeler" held opposite the slots in
the armature or stator. If a short exists the "feeler"
sticks or vibrates. This action is quite evident and
positive. |
